Pet Burial Overview

At Great River, pets are family. We offer natural burial options for whole body, cremated or composted pet family members.

For your pet family members, we offer plots in our Paws in Peace dedicated pet cemetery, or our Whole Family Burial cemetery area, where pets and their human companions rest side by side, keeping families together in death as they were in life.

Both burial areas provide a space where your beloved companion can be laid to rest with the same care and respect we offer for human burials. In recognition of the deep bond we share with our pet family members, we offer a last act of environmental kindness for your pet companions in the quiet company of other well-loved pet companions.

Paws in Peace

Paws in Peace, our dedicated pet cemetery, rests within a gently sloping meadow and oak savanna, where balsamroot flowers bloom in spring. From this peaceful place, the horizon opens to breathtaking views of both Mt. Adams and Mt. Hood — a serene resting ground for the ones who gave us unconditional love.

All plots are 5′ x 5′ and provide a place for one whole body natural burial, or the burial of one cremated or composted pet companion. The additional cost of opening and closing the grave depends on the size of the pet.

Pets which are too large for a 5′ x 5′ plot may require the purchase of 2 adjacent plots. Extra-large pets, such as a horse, may be interred in another part of the cemetery or we can recommend services which offer the pickup and natural burial of your horse at another location.

Whole Family Burial

At Great River, we believe that the bonds of love extend beyond life — not only between people, but also between humans and their cherished animal companions. That’s why we’ve set aside a special section of our cemetery as a whole-family burial area to keep families together in death as in life.

In this peaceful space, families can purchase plots adjacent to their pets that provide natural burial spaces for both people and their beloved pets side by side. These companion plots allow everyone — human and animal alike — to remain close. Whole Family plots are 5′ x 10′ or 5′ x 13′, depending on their location, and can accommodate multiple pet burials, depending on the size of the pets companions. The additional cost of opening and closing the grave depends on the size of the pet.

Whole Family burial plots for pet companions need to be purchased at the same time as their human burial plots.
