Finding Solace in Nature: A Traditional Approach to Grief & Burial
April 11 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
📍 The Grief House | 7906 N Fessenden St, Portland, OR 97203
📅 April 11th | 6:00–7:00 PM
Join Great River Natural Burial and our friends at The Portland Grief House for an evening of thoughtful community conversation about natural burial—a simple, sustainable, and meaningful way to return to the earth.
Great River Natural Burial, our newly licensed natural burial cemetery, offers solace through nature, community, and participation in the cycles of life and death. As the closest all-natural burial cemetery to Portland, we are honored to offer sustainable, eco-friendly options that conserve wildlife habitat in perpetuity— a final act of environmental kindness.
For those seeking a hands-on way to process loss, Great River Natural Burial offers opportunities to participate in burial practices—from crafting simple, biodegradable caskets to lowering a loved one into the earth or gently backfilling a grave. These acts, rooted in care and tradition, provide a tangible way to honor grief and feel the support of community.
At its heart, Great River recognizes that death is not separate from life but a part of its natural rhythm. In embracing this truth, we create space for healing, remembrance, and deep connection—to loved ones, to the land, and to ourselves.
